National Brownie Day

Today is a yummy day for those who love the gooey, chocolatey brownies.  This day started in 1893 in Chicago at the Palmer House Hotel.  The owner’s wife was hosting a group of ladies and requested a small cake-like delicacy.  The very first brownie had walnuts and was topped with an apricot glaze.  At the time it was not referred to as a brownie, that name came some years later.

Want to hear a few more interesting and cool facts?  In 1988, there were more than 2 billion brownies consumed.  60% of brownie lovers do not want nuts on their brownies.  36% of brownie lovers love the edge pieces.  Which categories do you fall into?

No matter what you prefer, make sure you have yourself a brownie today.
