Finding the Perfect Christmas Tree!

Categories: Tips

Picking out a Christmas tree has become a yearly family tradition in many households around the world. Want some help on choosing and preparing a Christmas tree? We have some tips for measuring, purchasing, and bringing home your holiday tree.

  1. Decide Where to Place the Tree and Measure the Area– Choose an area where the tree is away from any heat sources such as sunny windows, heating vents, and fireplaces. Also avoid placing the tree in high traffic areas where it could be bumped or overturned. Once you have picked the perfect spot for your tree, be sure to measure the area and take the measurements with you to the tree farm to be sure the tree you choose will fit in the space! Be sure to consider the height of your tree stand and tree topper to be sure everything will fit in the area you have selected!

  1. Go Prepared – Be sure to take all of the appropriate supplies when shopping for your tree. Some important items you will most definitely need are a tape measure, gloves, an old blanket or tarp, twine or rope and a saw.

  1. Selecting a Tree - Evergreen trees with shorter needles are often easier to decorate, as they offer space between branches for decorations as well as stronger stems to hold ornaments. To ensure a fresh tree, be sure the needles look shiny, green and fresh. A tree that is fresh should not have needles falling off when you pull on a branch.

  1. Transporting your Tree - If you can, lay the tree inside your car or trunk for the drive home. If you drive with the tree on the roof of your car, be sure to tie it securely to the car. Wrapping the tree in an old blanket or tarp may be helpful!

Now, everyone’s favorite part – placing the lights and ornaments on the tree.

Happy Decorating!
