Need a great way to spend an evening with your family? One of the most enjoyable holiday past times was making gingerbread houses as a family.
Plan your evening and get as many family members involved as possible (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, don’t leave anyone out). Then go to a dollar store and buy all types of different candy. Don’t overthink your decorations. You never know what you will use once you get going. Every type of candy serves as some sort of decoration. Don’t forget the necessities, graham crackers (or gingerbread if you start your day off baking and want to do it the right way), icing and cookie sheets (or something to put your gingerbread house on).
If you are a competitive family (like we are) then you need to divide off into teams and make it a competition. The parent who doesn’t participate can judge. Make sure you set a time limit before you start otherwise it might not be a fair win. Try making gingerbread houses with your family and see if it brings the same enjoyable evenings as we’ve had!!
