4 Reasons to Purchase a New Construction Home

If you’re planning on purchasing a home, one of the first things to consider is whether you’re going to buy a re-sale on the market or work with a builder like Brennan Homes to buy or build a new construction home. Everyone’s needs and wants are a bit different, but as home building experts, we can say with certainty that there are some distinct advantages to buying new. Below are four reasons you may want to consider buying a new construction home.

1. Customizable to Your Needs and Wants

With an existing home, what you see is what you get. Any changes you want to make will have to be done on your dime after you buy, and even then, the design of the home may cause some limitations. With a new construction, you can choose your own floorplan and work with the builder to customize it from the very beginning. This means that by the time you move in, it’s already designed with the features you want.

2. More Choice of Location

When you buy an existing home, the choice of location and neighborhood is already made for you, and it becomes one of the deciding factors as to whether you make an offer. A reputable builder is usually building homes in several new neighborhoods at once, so you can choose from a variety of floor plans and lots. If the home you want isn’t already built, you can build it from the ground up, and you have more options as to where to put your home.

3. Low Maintenance

One of the most economical benefits of building from scratch is that the home is new — meaning all the materials are new and under warranty. It will be several years before you even need to start worrying about ongoing maintenance and repairs.

4. Energy Efficiency

Today’s new construction homes are designed with the latest advances in energy efficiency. Unfortunately, older homes don’t have those advantages. They must be retrofitted to be energy efficient, which can get pricey. When you buy a new construction, you’re likely to pay less on your utility bills than if you bought an older home with the same square footage.
